Card: TPS Cool Waitress

I've recently discovered the joys of digi images, which no doubt you can tell by the number of cards I've recently made LOL.  About a month ago I got "Cool Waitress" by The Paper Shelter. The  minute I saw her I fell in love with her. She reminds me of Grease, one of my all time favourite movies.

This time I practiced my hair technique. I've been wanting to get what I call a more natural look, with wisps of hair. I feel that I achieved this and I'm keen to practice some more with various colours.

The paper I used is "So Sweet" by BoBunny. It is very pretty and to me quite girly with its pinks, blues and browns.

I've taken several different shots of my card.  I hope that you like it.  Here it is:

Tri-shutter - G45 ABC Primmer

Howdy fellow crafters. This weekend I've been busy playing in the craft room and surfing the net. I decided that I wanted to make a card with my scraps, in line with the "I pledge to use it up" challenge. Late last year I made a build-a-page album, as created by Kathy Orta from Paper Phenomenon, though I didn't post any photos to my blog. Anyway, I had several scraps left over and I decided they would make for a good tri-shutter card. Anna, from Anne's papercreations gave me the idea when she made a comment that Graphic 45 papers call to be fussy cut. I so agree with her and as such made the below card. I've taken several photos.

Hi everyone, I'm so exited I just had to write this post. Last night when I got home from work I found out that I had just been accepted on the design team for Creative Card Crew (CCC). Mari, the owner of CCC, will officially announce it on the CCC blog when I officially start later in the month, but I am already listed on the blog under the design team members.  I will be looking to add a card to this up coming challenge, but that will be in an unofficial capacity.

If you haven't checked out the talent of the CCC design team, hop on over to the CCC blog and check out the the very talented DT ladies.

Kenny K's Krafty Krew - Big Birthday's Challenge

Earlier in the week I noticed the new challenge over on the Kenny K's Krafty Krew blog. I wasn't sure if I was going to participate and then last night I was just in the mood to join in.  It also gave me an opportunity to stretch  myself and try a different hair colour other than the standard brown I've been doing. I'm quite happy with how my card turned out. I do love the digi's at Kenny K's.  Anyway, here is my entry in this weeks challenge:

Baby Shower - Leonie

Tonight I made a card for my friend Leonie. Her baby shower is coming up, so I thought I'd make the card with plenty of time to spare.  The card, a tri-shutter, was inspired by Anne from Annes Papercreations blog (aka xannero1 on YouTube).  Leonie has let us all know that she is having a little girl.  With this information I decided to really go to town and do a girly girl pink card.  I'm really happy with my work and very appreciative of Anne's inspiration.

Kenny K's Krafty Krew - Patriotic Challenge

While checking out my blog list I decided to see what was happening on the Kenny K's Krafty Krew (formerly Krafty Girlz) blog challenge.  This week the theme is Patriotic. I've never participated in a challenge before but I liked the idea of this theme and was looking for a good excuse, not that I really need one, to finally get around and using my Kenny K's digi images.

Since I live in Australia, the colours of my country are Red, White and Blue. I know many people might think green and gold, since that is what we wear in the Olympics, but I'm working on the colours of our flag.

I decided to use "Bodacious Bev" and I think she looks fantastic.  Here is my card:

Challenge: Krafty Krew #100 Raise your Flag

Supplies:
  • Copic: Skin E50, E51, E53 / Hair: E33, E35, E37, E47 / Clothes & Shoes: B24, B29, R35, R37 / Eyes B24 / Cross: 100 + a touch of Spica 0 through out
  • Wild Orchid Craft Flowers and Crown Pin

TGF "Maria"

I spent all weekend crafting, working on the binding folders for my Spellbinder Dies, packing up around 6pm to spend the evening reading. Well, the craft juices hadn't stopped flowing and I found I couldn't concentrate on my book as I kept thinking about The Greeting Farm stamp "Maria" that I had stamped in May to use for a Mother's Day card but never got around to using it. I really wanted to colour her in with my Copics, so I finished the chapter I was reading, but my book down and went back into my craft room.

The card below is what I came up with.  I did not plan the layout of this card and I had no idea of how it would turn out, I just kept adding stuff until I was happy that it didn't need any more stuff. I did think at one point I might over do it, but in the end I was able to stop and feel that I hadn't over done it.  I'm sure my friend Elle will be amazed to hear this as I am such a planner. LOL

When creating this card, I drew on inspiration from Amy of Prairie Paper and Ink (blog and YouTube) as well as Arlene from Butterfly Kisses (blog and YouTube). I find that both these ladies inspire me with their creations.  Both ladies are fabulous in putting patten paper together, the layout of their cards and how they colour with their copics.  I also love Arlene's off the page (OTP) projects and her idea of cutting our her images once coloured in.

The card is made entirely from scraps, with the majority of the embellishments coming from packets already opened or that I've had for over two years and hadn't used.  I often get caught up in what I'm going to do, plan it out, ignore all the scraps I have and head straight for my uncut new cardstock and papers.  Hearing how Arlene always cuts her images gave me a way forward as I noticed that sometimes I get stuck on wondering what to do with an image and stressing over so much white space.  We all know that crafting is meant to be fun and if you stress over how something should be, how much fun is that really.  Taking Arlene's idea of cutting out a coloured image, I found my card just came together.  It is such a simple idea you think I could have worked that one out for myself LOL.

This morning on my way to work I decided that I am going to give this card to myself as a reminder of what can be achieved with scraps.  Anyway, I've rambled on enough. Here is the card.
